Happy Long Weekend :)

This past long weekend we decided to make a last minute trip to Sylvan Lake. We were supposed to run the Color Me Rad on Saturday, but since it got postponed until August we had the long weekend wide OPEN!-hence the last minute trip to Sylvan Lake.

Since we decided to go during the middle of the week all the campsites were FULL, so my lovely Aunty Carolyn and Uncle Jeff offered for us to stay in their camp-trailer on their farm just a few clicks outside of Sylvan, which we gratefully accepted!!

We left Friday evening, the plan was to leave at 6pm....but we didn't leave until 7:30pm-yah that's how we roll! I don't know what it is but getting ready for a trip stresses me out and I usually have some sort of 'blow out' that is completely uncalled for, which probably helped us run later than planned. Thank goodness for unconditional love **Matthew! It didn't help that I wasn't feeling 100% and just needed to sleep. Anyway we finally got the car packed and were off. We stopped for din-din at Wendy's in Airdrie....( FYI: I LOVE WENDY'S, I used to work their when I was a teen and I still love it!) Adelade had her first kids meal. She sure loved it!-Poured milk all over herself and everything-- hahaha!

We got to my Aunt and Uncle's at around 9:45pm, put Adelade to bed, which took about 1hour because she had never not slept in a play pen or crib, this was her first time in a 'bed'. She thought playing with the blinds was the funnest thing-- EVER! So once we pulled them up, she finally fell asleep. YAY!
See those little fingers! I wish I had gotten a picture of her standing between the window and the blinds, another time I suppose.

I have to say I really felt the uncomfortableness of pregnancy this weekend as I tried to sleep. It was not the greatest time to say the least.

Saturday started early...really early. Adelade woke up at 6am-ouch! She was adamant on going to say "hi" to the "puppies". (My Aunt and Uncle have 2 labs, which Adelade LOVED!) So I took her for a little walk over to the dogs pen and she was a happy camper.

"HI PUPPIES"
When we came back to the trailer I was trying to figure how I was going to get through the day with the little sleep I had managed to get through the night and now having my child awake. Thank goodness for technology!-My Uncle had a little TV with a VCR in it and we popped in "Harry and the Henderson's". I wasn't sure if Adelade would go for it, but her and Matthew watched it while I watched it with my eyes closed! Adelade laughed every time Harry come on the screen, by the way Harry is 'Big Foot'. By 8:30am we were done our movie--which is a first for me--I have never watched a movie before 8:30am ever! Though I'm sure it won't be the last time since I have an almost 2 year old.

LIFE SAVER!
Once I got a little bit more rest, I felt WAY better so we headed to the Lake! At first Adelade cried her brains out when she walked in the sand. I think it was a combination of being ridiculously tired and not know what the heck was going on. After we FINALLY found the 'perfect' spot...which took 3 spots (sorry Matthew for making you move all our stuff 3 times...he was a trooper about it though!)  Our perfect spot had just enough sand that Adelade could play in it and walk in the water. It was GREAT! I sat in the sand like a beached whale and took it all in. Adelade did really well walking in the water, she was a bit uneasy about it at first but then she got the hang of it and really loved being in the water even though she was shivering most of the time. Matthew enjoyed playing in the sand with her and making and destroying sand castles. Adelade enjoyed the "putting sand on Mommy and Daddy" game the best. It was so nice to see her happy and enjoying the water!

Loving the water!

Playing catch with Dadda

The 'toys'!
Being her cute self :)
After the lake we went back to the camper, which Adelade enthusiastically called  "Huuuuuume!", put her down for nap while Matthew and I ate some lunch outside. After lunch he and I joined Adelade and we all napped--thank goodness for naps!

After our nap session we just hung around the farm the rest of the night fighting off mosquitoes and enjoying each others company. Adelade loved when the dogs would come over and lick her face and she especially loved sitting on my Uncle's tractor. I think she sat on it over 10x in 3 days. She LOVES diggers, which she calls "joo-joos". Matthew also pointed out that I got a "batman" sunburn on my face. Apparently I didn't apply my sunscreen very well and got a sunburn around my eyes that looked like the batman mask--sexy I know! Since we are on the topic of sunburns, we tried out this spray sunscreen and realized it has it's faults. The problem is we trusted it too much!--because Matthew and I ended up with some sunburn spots on our backs--it looked pretty funny to say the least. Needless to say on Monday I bought some lotion sunscreen and we had much better luck.
There was a crazy storm on Saturday night with tons of rain. It was so nice to have it cool down and the sound of the rain pounding down on the camper helped us all fall asleep. Double YAY!
Matthew and I went for a little walk on Saturday night as we watched the storm clouds form, it was pretty crazy!!

Sleeping like a baby!
We all had a WAY better sleep on Saturday night and no one waked before 8:30! :)

On Sunday we went to 1 o'clock church in Red Deer--which was another first with Adelade. We only lasted the first hour as it was prime time nap time!! Some of my other Aunts and Uncles are in the ward we went to so it was really nice to see them. My Nana (my Mom's mom ) is also in that ward so it was lovely to see her. Unfortunately she has lost a lot of her memory so she didn't know who I was,  but I was happy to see her and give her a hug. I don't get to see my family much so it was nice to see them. We got to sit with my Aunt Jackie and cousin Jessica during sacrament. Jess was more prepared than me to entertain Adelade, she had books and stuffys for her to play with...while I had nothing. Thanks Jess :)
oooo...another neat thing Adelade learned this weekend was how to climb into her car seat on her own! GO ADELADE!--I was happy about not having to do as much lifting.

After Adelade got in a nap after church we packed up a picnic and headed to the lake, we cooked up some smokies by the water it was nice. Matthew said this while having dinner:

"When Daddy makes dinner it is so much simpler than when Mommy makes dinner"...as we ate smokies with mustard! hahaha!

I was happy to not have to cook, so I was pleased. We got home from the lake around 8:30pm, I thought Adelade would go to sleep in a jiffy, but no--she was much too excited to go to sleep. After trying many a different ways it was close to midnight so we decided to all go to bed together. I kind of wish we had tried that from the beginning...:) Adelade is not a cuddly sleeper, when she is tired and not in her bed she can't stop moving and she gets really giggly and silly, which makes it hard to get upset because she is so stinkin' cute! Anyway, we finally all hit the hay and had another nice night of rest.

On Monday we didn't really have any set plans, but all I can say is it was hot as an armpit so I was tired just trying to stay cool. I know I sound like I'm a big baby but the heat was a bit much for me. Also it is hard when your kid has beautiful porcelain skin, or skin whiter than a bar of soap some may say, that BURNS really easily. Matthew and I were so worried she was going to get a sunburn, but thank goodness for sunscreen and hats she didn't.  Matthew spent the afternoon helping my Uncle Jim (different Uncle) fix up his boat to take out, but it ended up that they just took out his jet skis instead. Matthew was a happy camper. Water sports are totally his thing, he loves them! I was happy he got to go Jet Skiing. Adelade and I played on the beach while they jetted around. Matthew wanted me to try it, but I didn't feel comfortable trying something for the first time being 8 months pregnant, not to mention if I fell off or whichever. I was happy to stay on the beach. Adelade was really used to playing in the water my this point, it was great she just did her own thing while I stood in the water to cool off. It was pretty funny though how she wanted to play with ALL her beach toys at once--her bucket, shovel, truck, ball, and floaty crocodile thing. I ended up just holding them most of the time, so she felt like they were being played with. Oh Adelade!

Anyway, we had a great evening at the lake and headed home around 7:30pm. Adelade was a champ on the car ride home! We got home had a bath and went to bed.
Chowing down on some chips
It was SO nice to get away, but also very nice to come home. I am grateful for my family and their hospitality and also having the time to spend time with Matthew just enjoying the outdoors, he taught me some things about clouds and such I never knew before- what a smart pants he is. Also,  it was lovely spending time the 3 of us enjoying the weather, the water and each other. I'm sure Adelade's highs of the trip were eating chips, playing in the water, sitting on a tractor and playing with puppies.  All in all it was a wonderful long weekend.
